Over the next decade, I aspire to enhance the School of Educational Sciences at the College of Education, Bahir Dar University, into a transformative and innovative learning environment. My vision is to empower educators, researchers, and students to collaboratively redefine the future of education both in Ethiopia and beyond. By promoting interdisciplinary collaboration among its departments, such as Teacher Education and Curriculum Studies, Lifelong Learning and Community Development, Educational Planning and Management, Special Needs and Inclusive Education, and Psychology, we can establish a vibrant center of excellence in education. This collaborative effort will facilitate the development of pioneering teaching strategies, inclusive education models, and community-centered solutions.

I envision the School of Educational Sciences as a leader in educational research and policy development, tackling pressing challenges including equitable access, creating lifelong learning opportunities, and the effective integration of technology into teaching practices. Through the establishment of strong partnerships with local communities, policymakers, and international educational institutions, we can cultivate knowledge that informs effective strategies for inclusive education and sustainable learning frameworks. By uniting the expertise from psychology, teacher education and curriculum studies and educational management, the school will contribute to the development of enhanced learning methodologies, student well-being, and strong institutional leadership, all of which are essential for meaningful educational reform.

In addition, I believe it is vital to strengthen the school’s role as a facilitator of social transformation, providing future educators with the necessary skills, empathy, and vision to foster diverse learning experiences. By prioritizing innovation, inclusivity, and community engagement, we will inspire a new generation of educators and change-makers committed to making education accessible and impactful for everyone. As we continuously adapt our curricula and embrace emerging educational paradigms, the School of Educational Sciences will stand as a model of progressive thinking and excellence, steering the education sector toward a brighter and more equitable future.
