Bahir Dar, May 1, 2025 — In a bold step toward transforming the college's healthcare, medical education, and research, College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) at Bahir Dar University (BDU), in collaboration with Nile Executive Leadership Academy (NELA), convened a high-impact leadership forum titled Leadership Through Crisis. Held at the historic Old Senate and Wisdom Halls, the one-day event brought together the entire college leadership team under the theme “Empower to Lead, Inspire to Transform.” Opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Bekalu Wubshet, chief executive director of the college, followed by an inspiring keynote from Dr. Mengesha Ayene, the president of Bahir Dar University. Dr. Mengesha emphasized the urgent need for transformative leadership and most importantly, co-create pathways to strengthen our leadership practices in the face of ongoing and emerging challenges. He reiterated that there is a need to revitalize services, education and research at the college.

April 27, 2025-Bahir Dar: The Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology at College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Tibebe Ghion Specialized Hospital (TGSH, CMHS), successfully completed the first round of the Non-Operative Fracture Management Course for medical interns. Held on April 26 and 27, the two-day workshop featured both lecture and practical sessions, focusing on equipping graduating medical interns with essential skills and knowledge to manage trauma emergency cases effectively.
