Department of Anesthesia

The Department of Anesthesia is a leading center for anesthesia education, research, and clinical practice, supported by a diverse team of around 40 dedicated academic and clinical professionals. Our multidisciplinary staff include:

•  3 specialists in Anesthesiology, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine (actively practicing)

•  1 specialist currently pursuing an Intensive Care Fellowship in India

•  18 MSc. anesthetists engaged in clinical care, teaching, and mentorship

•  2 PhD candidates actively involved in advanced research

•  1 staff member currently enrolled in an MSc. program

•  14 BSc. clinical anesthesia professionals supporting service delivery and student training

Since the launch of the BSc in Anesthesia program in 2009 (Ethiopian Calendar) and the Anesthesia Residency Program in 2013 (Ethiopian Calendar), we have consistently produced highly skilled anesthesia providers who contribute significantly to Ethiopia’s healthcare system.

Our faculty are engaged in cutting-edge research, generating over 100 scholarly outputs aimed at advancing the science of anesthesia and improving patient care. Driven by a strong commitment to excellence, we continue to shape the future of anesthesia through innovative training methods, evidence-based clinical practice, and a deep commitment to community service.
