Meet Our Health Services Deputy Corporate Director (HSDCD) of the Hospital

The Health Services Deputy Corporate Director (HSDCD) plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services and education within our institution. Nominated by the Health Sciences Education and Services Corporate Director (HESCD) from a pool of qualified medical doctors with specialty or subspecialty certificates, the HSDCD is elected by the college community and approved by the Chief Executive Director (CED). This director serves a three-year term, with the possibility of reappointment for an additional term, and is accountable to both the HESCD and the CED.

Key Responsibilities and Expertise

The HSDCD brings a diverse set of leadership and management skills, along with considerable experience as a senior physician in healthcare and hospital settings, possessing optimal management expertise. Their core duties include:

• Strategic Management: Forming part of the management team for Health Science Education and Services, collaborating with the HESCD, Health Education Deputy Corporate Director (HEDCD), and other essential college units.
• Service Planning & Coordination: Planning and coordinating the activities of all health service directorates, departments, and units within the hospital to ensure the delivery of quality health/medical services and education.
• Quality Assurance & Compliance: Establishing robust mechanisms to measure and improve the quality of healthcare and programs, while also overseeing strict compliance with all relevant government regulations concerning service quality and patient safety.
• Interdepartmental Collaboration: Interacting closely with the HESCD, HEDCD, and other key offices to facilitate health services, teaching, and research conducted within the hospital and its units.
• Leadership & Oversight: Chairing the Senior Hospital Management Team Committee (SHMT) and other relevant hospital committees to ensure smooth operations and effective decision-making.
• Resource Mobilization: Facilitating the mobilization, generation, diversification, and intelligent use of limited resources to support the activities of the hospital, college, and its various units.
• Program Oversight: In collaboration with the HESCD, HEDCD, Research and Community Service Corporate Director (RCSCD), Medical Service Quality, Innovation, and Interdisciplinary Collaboration Director (MSEQIICD), and Academic and Business Development Corporate Director (ABCD)/College Managing Director, overseeing all health services, practical training, and research provided in the hospital and its units.
• Awards & Recognition: Ensuring the implementation of all service-related award directives (e.g., best clinicians, best hospital service providers) and initiating revisions or developing new awards as needed.
• Operational Adherence & Accountability: Utilizing university legislation, college directives, federal hospital management guidelines, and other regulations for all workflows. The HSDCD is fully responsible and legally accountable for implementing approved hospital services provision protocols.
• Daily Operations Monitoring: Continuously monitoring the day-to-day functioning of the hospital and other health facilities.
