Research Interest

Dr Mesafint Molla possesses a diverse array of research interests within the fields of environmental and occupational health. His research predominantly focuses on quantifying the health impacts associated with household air pollution (HAP) exposure, conducting surveillance of environmental and occupational hazards, and investigating the effects of climate change and adaptation strategies. He has extensive hands-on experience in implementing parallel randomized controlled trial designs to evaluate the health effects of improved cookstove interventions in rural communities. Currently, His research focuses on the health impacts of vented improved cookstove interventions in rural settings. In the future, he intends to rigorously assess the health impact of HAP on chronic cardiometabolic risk factors and diseases such as hypertension, ischemic heart disease, stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), Type 2 diabetes, and certain types of cancer. Dr Mesafint Molla is actively seeking a postdoctoral research position in environmental health epidemiology; particularly on the health impacts of HAP exposure in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
