Department of Logistics and Supply Chain Management

The Department of Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LSCM) at Bahir Dar University’s College of Business and Economics is dedicated to developing competent professionals and generating knowledge in logistics, procurement, transportation, inventory, operations, and supply chain management. The department evolved from the former Purchasing and Supply Management department and adopted the contemporary Logistics and Supply Chain Management concept in 2008.

The department focuses on providing relevant education and professional preparation that responds to the needs of government, private-sector, and non-governmental organizations. Its academic programs emphasize both theoretical knowledge and practical competencies in areas such as strategic supply chain management, procurement, transportation, logistics engineering, operations management, supply chain information systems, quantitative decision-making, and humanitarian logistics.

Through teaching, research, consultancy, and community engagement, the department seeks to contribute to improved organizational performance, efficient resource management, and the development of Ethiopia’s logistics and supply chain sector. It also aims to prepare graduates who can support organizations in building integrated and competitive supply chains and creating value across the entire supply chain.
