The College/Hospital Board

The College/Hospital Board is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and governance of the institution, ensuring alignment with the University's mission and national regulations. Its key responsibilities include:

  • Accountability: Reports to the University President and the relevant Ministry.
  • Strategic Leadership: Defines the mission and vision, setting goals and values for the College and its units.
  • Board Appointment: The University President, in consultation with the Chief Executive Director (CED) of the College, nominates board members for approval by the University Governing Board.
  • Policy Development: Proposes and approves policies, plans, and strategies to guide operations and clarify objectives.
  • Healthcare Standards: Develops initiatives to enhance healthcare quality, ensuring equitable access to services.
  • Academic Excellence: Establishes frameworks for improving medical and health sciences education, research, technology transfer, entrepreneurship, and community engagement.
  • Policy Implementation: Ensures effective execution of policies by relevant hospital departments.
  • Financial Oversight: Approves annual budgets and allocates resources efficiently while conducting quarterly performance evaluations.
  • Leadership and Governance: Nominates the CED in consultation with the University President for approval by the University Governing Board, defines their duties, and assesses performance annually.
  • Employee Welfare: Determines staff benefits based on government directives and value-based models.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Oversees the implementation of healthcare financing regulations.
  • Performance Evaluation: Regularly assesses board effectiveness through structured evaluations.
  • Quality Management: Enforces quality assurance standards, including EHRIG and University Senate Regulations.
  • Ethics and Transparency: Upholds legal and ethical integrity while ensuring accountability.
  • Community Engagement: Facilitates stakeholder involvement in service planning and education.
  • Administrative Strength: Ensures robust management structures and effective information systems.
  • Organizational Development: Promotes flat hierarchies, empowers staff, trains leaders, and mobilizes intellectual capital.
