Clinical Trial Unit Launched at Tana Research and Diagnostic Center
A launching ceremony for the Clinical Trial Unit was held today at Tana Research and Diagnostic Center (TRDC), College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS), Bahir Dar University.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Zewdie Mekonen, Corporate Director of TRDC, welcomed the guests and briefed them on the purpose, vision, and scope of the Center.
Dr. Amsalu Worku, Corporate Director of Health Education and Services at the college delivered opening remarks, delegating the chief executive director, emphasizing the college’s commitment to quality research and patient-centered service.
Delivering the keynote address, Professor Wondimagegn highlighted the vital role of clinical trials in improving healthcare outcomes and generating evidence-based medical solutions. He also emphasized the importance of locally generated data in informing clinical practice and strengthening the national healthcare system.
Following the address, Dr. Dereje Bedanie guided participants on a tour of the newly established Clinical Trial Unit.
The reflection session, facilitated by Dr. Mulusew Andualem, Corporate Director, Research and Community Engagement, provided an opportunity for participants to share insights and recommendations for the effective utilization of the unit.
The program concluded with the presentation of certificates of recognition to individuals who made significant contributions to the establishment of the Clinical Trial Unit.
The new unit is expected to serve as a key platform for conducting high-quality clinical studies that inform medical practice, policy, and innovation.
