The college Partners with Children’s Surgery International to Transform Lives of Children with Cleft Conditions

In a life-changing medical initiative, College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Bahir Dar University, in collaboration with Children’s Surgery International, USA,  is delivering free pediatric ENT and facial plastic surgery services to children born with cleft lip and palate.

The specialized mission brings together Ethiopian and international surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses working side by side to restore smiles and rebuild confidence for children and families affected by congenital facial conditions.

Over the course of the program, dozens of children are expected to receive life-changing reconstructive procedures. The initiative also provides hands-on training for local healthcare professionals, strengthening Ethiopia’s capacity for sustainable pediatric surgical care.

Through compassion, innovation, and global partnership, CMHS and CSI are turning what was once a dream for many children into a new beginning.
