Welcome to the Directorate of Pharmacy Education and Services at Bahir Dar University's College of Medicine & Health Sciences. Established as a department in 2017 and officially elevated to a Directorate in 2024, we stand as a dynamic center for academic education, cutting-edge research, essential services, and impactful community engagement in the field of pharmacy. As one of the five Directorates under the College of Medicine & Health Sciences, we are committed to preparing highly skilled pharmacy professionals ready to serve effectively in Ethiopia and on the international stage.

Undergraduate Program
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy
(Amharic: የባችለር ዲግሪ በፋርማሲ)
Our foundational undergraduate program provides comprehensive training for aspiring pharmacy professionals. The curriculum is meticulously structured around global best practices, aligning with the World Health Organization (WHO) and International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP)'s "Eight-Star Pharmacist" model. This robust framework aims to produce well-rounded pharmacy graduates equipped for diverse and impactful roles in healthcare.
Postgraduate Program
- Master of Science (MSc) in Pharmacology
For graduates seeking advanced specialization and research opportunities, our Master's degree program provides in-depth knowledge and advanced research skills in the critical field of pharmacology. This prepares graduates for leadership roles in research, academia, and the pharmaceutical industries.

- Academic Staff: Our programs are supported by 30 academic and professional staff members, comprising expert educators, researchers, and clinicians with diverse expertise and practical experience in pharmacy and pharmacology.
- Undergraduate Students: We currently educate more than 200 undergraduate students.
- Postgraduate Students: Our Master's program enrolls more than 40 postgraduate students.

Admission Pathways
We welcome dedicated and aspiring students to apply to our programs.
- Admission to the Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy program is open to candidates through several pathways, including:
- High school graduates (both local and international curricula).
- Holders of Level IV & 12+2 diplomas with COC certification.
- BSc degree holders in other health sciences disciplines.
- Eligible transfer students in accordance with Bahir Dar University regulations.
- Special and mature admission applicants are also considered.
- Admission requirements for the Master of Science in Pharmacology program are specified separately and typically include a relevant Bachelor's degree and other academic prerequisites. Please refer to the specific program guidelines for detailed admission criteria.
