Bahir Dar University hosted H.E. Ervin Massinga for a high-level engagement with U.S. program alumni at the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, underscoring the growing role of alumni networks in driving innovation and community development.
The visit featured an interactive roundtable discussion with members of the U.S. Exchange Alumni of Ethiopia – Bahir Dar Chapter, bringing together a diverse group of entrepreneurs, scholars, faculty, and beneficiaries of U.S.-funded exchange programs. The session provided a platform for meaningful dialogue on the contributions and future direction of the alumni community.
During the discussion, Ambassador Massinga engaged alumni representatives on the chapter’s achievements, ongoing initiatives, and strategic plans. Participants highlighted their active involvement in community transformation, youth empowerment, and innovation-driven projects, demonstrating the expanding impact of the alumni network across the region.
The Ambassador reaffirmed continued support for alumni activities, emphasizing the importance of strengthening networks to enhance their effectiveness in addressing local and national development challenges. He noted that empowered alumni communities play a vital role in fostering sustainable progress and leadership.
The session also created space for open dialogue, allowing participants to raise key issues, exchange perspectives, and respond to questions in a constructive and collaborative environment.
President of Bahir Dar University, Mengesha Ayene (phd), expressed pride in the accomplishments of the alumni chapter and reiterated the University’s commitment to supporting its initiatives. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration in advancing innovation, leadership, and institutional partnerships.
