Alumni Stories: BDU Alumni and Friends Donated 100k Birr Worth Books to EiTEX Community Library.

Four former graduates and most of them colleagues of BDU have donated 327 books worth 100,000 birr to the Ethiopian Institute of Textile and Fashion Technology (EiTEX) community library through Mr. Tamiru Delelegn, a dedicated staff member and alumni coordinator of Bahir Dar University. The books are primarily supportive guides to various textbooks for students ranging from grades 5–12. They play a vital role in enabling learners to master complex academic concepts in a simplified manner and prepare them for high-stakes national and regional exams.

The donors from the alumni side were pedagogical sciences graduates of BDU’s former Faculty of Education, namely, Dawit Tibebu (PhD, G.C.95), Habtamu Lamore (G.C.97), Hailu Melese (G.C.97), and Nigussu Tilahun (G.C.98). The fifth donor was Aimro Amare. Besides, Dr. Dawit, Habtamu, and Aimro had previously served as academic staff of BDU. Hailu Melese had served as an instructor at Debre-Birhan University and different NGOs. Nigussu Tilahun, known for his dedicated service to BDU’s student union during his study years, had served at various levels in the marketing domain at Dashen Brewery before launching his own business firms. The donors pledged between 10,000 and 30,000 birr each for buying and donating the books.

BDU Alumni Coordinating Office and EiTEX are grateful for the philanthropic services rendered and encourage other graduates and friends of BDU to engage with the development of the university in general and EiTEX library in particular.
