PhD Dissertation Public Defense by Mr. Mehari Kumilachew Bezuneh on April 21, 2026.

Mr. Mehari Kumilachew Bezuneh has successfully defended his PhD dissertation in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Manufacturing Systems under the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University (BiT–BDU). His research, titled “Development of a Systematic Framework for Selecting Mass Customization Strategies in Manufacturing Industry,” was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Assefa Amare (Associate Professor, BiT) as the main advisor, with co-advisors Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jörg Franke from Friedrich-Alexander University, Germany, and Dr. Teshome Mulatie (Associate Professor, BiT).

PhD Dissertation Public Defense by Mr. Zelalem Masresha on June 5, 2025.

Mr. Zelalem Masresha has successfully defended his PhD dissertation in Mechanical with a Specialization in Thermal Engineering under the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University (BiT-BDU). His research, titled “Rock Bed Thermal Energy Storage for Coffee Cherry Drying: Drying Kinetics and Performance Evaluation,” was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Nigus Gabbiye and Dr. Bimrew Tamirat, both from BiT-BDU.

PhD Dissertation Public Defense by Mr. Solomon Tekeste on June 6, 2025

Mr. Solomon Tekeste has successfully defended his PhD dissertation in specialization Agricultural Mechanization Engineering under the Faculty of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University (BiT-BDU). His research, titled “Effect of Postharvest Handling Practices on Head Rice Recovery for Selected Rice Cultivar in North-Western Ethiopia,” was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Mulugeta Admasu, Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering & Bioeconomy, from Potsdam, Germany, and Dr. Adissu Negash, from BiT-BDU.

PhD dissertation defense by Mr. Fetene Teshome on September 08/2025.

Mr. Fetene Teshome has successfully defended his PhD dissertation in Manufacturing Engineering under the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University (BiT-BDU). His research, titled “Investigation of SiC Reinforced Al7039/Cu Metal Matrix Composite for Mold Tooling Application,” was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Kishor Kolhe from SCOE, Vadgaon (BK), Pune University, India, and Dr. Assefa Asmare from BiT-BDU, Ethiopia.
