Establishing Transformative Learning, Research and Community outreach and Capacities in Agroecology at Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia (LINK) Despite the rich natural endowments, the Lake Tana basin (LTB) in northern Ethiopia faces enormous challenges: over-exploitation of its natural resources, high population growth rates, food insecurity, and high poverty prevalence among the surrounding smallholder households. There is high demand for participatory action research and higher education based on transformative learning to address these challenges and to elaborate solutions collaboratively with local stakeholders, enabling an agroecological (AE) and socio-cultural-sound development based on a sustainable use of regional resources.
