Bahir Dar University Holds Consultation with Academic Staff on Program Review, Reorganization and Restructuring Process.

Bahir Dar University has conducted a consultative discussion with its academic staff and researchers on a newly prepared study document outlining the Program Review, Reorganization and Restructuring Process, a strategic initiative aimed at transforming the University into a research-oriented and autonomous institution.
The consultation was attended by the University President, Dr. Mengesha Ayene, alongside academic staff, researchers, and university officials. The forum provided an opportunity to present the proposed restructuring framework and gather constructive feedback from the University's scholarly community.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Mengesha Ayene stated that the study document is the result of an extensive and rigorous effort undertaken over a considerable period by a multidisciplinary committee composed of experienced professionals from various academic fields. He emphasized that the committee worked with dedication and commitment to develop a framework capable of supporting the University's long-term transformation.
Dr. Mengesha further noted that the proposed organizational restructuring represents a significant milestone in advancing Bahir Dar University toward its strategic vision. According to him, the reform is expected to strengthen the University's academic excellence, research capacity, governance, and institutional efficiency while positioning it as a nationally and internationally competitive research university.
The University's Vice President for Academic Affairs, Professor Essey Kebede, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Program Review, Reorganization and Restructuring Process, highlighting its objectives, implementation strategies, and anticipated contributions to enhancing the quality and effectiveness of academic programs and institutional governance.
A detailed presentation on the study document was also delivered by Professor Asamnew Tassew, who explained the rationale behind the proposed organizational reforms, the recommended structural changes, and their expected impact on the University's future development.
Following the presentations, participants actively engaged in the discussion by raising questions, sharing observations, and providing constructive recommendations on various aspects of the proposed reform. The University President, together with the responsible officials, responded to the questions and offered further clarifications on the issues raised.
Concluding the consultation, University officials affirmed that the comments and recommendations gathered during the discussion will be carefully reviewed and incorporated into the final version of the study document. The consultation reflects Bahir Dar University's commitment to participatory governance and inclusive decision-making as it pursues institutional reforms designed to strengthen its academic, research, and administrative excellence.
