Program Overview
The Embroidery Design Training Program (EDTP) at EiTEX, Bahir Dar University, is a three-month, practice-oriented training designed to provide participants with the artistic and technical skills needed to produce both traditional and modern embroidery designs for garments and decorative textiles.
This training equips youth, women, and creative entrepreneurs with hands-on experience in hand and machine embroidery techniques, design development, color application, and digital embroidery design. The program combines artistic creativity, cultural expression, and business-oriented learning by prioritizing women, youth, and migrant returnees, promoting inclusive and sustainable livelihoods through skill-based education. Furthermore, the program enables participants to produce marketable embroidery products for personal income or small business ventures.

¨ Total Duration: 3 months (240 hours)

· Practical: 80%
· Assessment & Projects: 10%
¨ Mode of Delivery: Competency-based, hands-on learning
¨ Attendance Requirement: 85% attendance required

Entry and Selection Criteria
¨ Education: Grade 6 and above
¨ Age: 18 years or older
¨ Experience: Not required (open to all skill levels)
¨ Class Size: 15 trainees per Cohort
Medium of Instruction
¨ Amharic, with English technical terminology
Training Fee
¨ Total: 5,400 ETB
¨ Installment: 1,800 ETB per month
Certification
Upon successful completion, trainees receive a Certificate of Competence in Garment Making Short-Term Training awarded by EiTEX, Bahir Dar University, with the following Nomenclature
