Daniel Mekete Alemu is a multilingual public health specialist, sexual and reproductive health (SRH) consultant, health systems leader, executive educator, and Master Trainer of Leadership. A First-Cohort Fellow of the Nile Executive Leadership Academy (NELA) and Certified Competent Leader, he holds a Master of Public Health in Reproductive Health from Bahir Dar University. His expertise bridges systems thinking, personal mastery, organizational transformation, and public health practice grounded throughout in his guiding philosophy of leading with integrity and humility.
He currently serves as Liaison and Patient Information Deputy Director at Bahir Dar University's Tibebe Ghion Specialized Hospital, Research and Development Director and CPD Coordinator at Nadan Initiatives PLC, and Project Coordinator at Vision for Holistic Community Development (VHCD). Across these roles, he has driven institutional system transformation, shaped the ten-year strategic plan of Zimamnesh Children and Women Hospital, and led multisectoral programmes such as the Biruh Temari School Health and Literacy Initiative and the Nile Wellness Gathering Community Health Project.
His public health emergency leadership was forged at the Amhara Public Health Institute's CDC Program, coordinating disease surveillance, data management, and Emergency Operations Center hotline response. His research agenda spanssexual and reproductive health, health systems strengthening, quality improvement, and disability-inclusion policy consistently translating frontline evidence into institutional strategy.
As a Master Trainer of Leadership, Daniel mentors emerging leaders in personal mastery, systems thinking, and people-centered leadership, anchored in assertiveness, continuous learning, and purposeful action. A former Spokesperson, Vice President, and Academic Affairs Chairperson of the Bahir Dar University Students' Union, he advanced peacebuilding through the USAID/PDC Sustained Dialogue Project, and his impact has been honored with Best Employee of the Year at Kuyu General Hospital and Best Volunteer of the Year by the Ethiopian Blood Bank. A natural connector across languages and cultures, Daniel channels leadership, scholarship, and service toward resilient health systems and lasting institutional transformation.
