Mr. Gebretsadik Getaneh is an Ethiopian academic, Development economist, and educational leader currently serving as a Lecturer of Economics and Head of the Department of Economics at Bahir Dar University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in economics in 2016, his master’s degree in development economics in 2020 from Bahir Dar University and his bachelor’s degree in educational planning and development management from New Blue College in 2025. His academic background and commitment to lifelong learning have shaped his professional and leadership journey.
Before joining academia, Mr. Gebretsadik gained extensive professional experience at Dashen Bank, where he served in several positions including Customer Service Officer, Associate Internal Control Officer, and Branch Relationship Officer. These roles strengthened his expertise in customer relations, institutional operations, compliance, and organizational management.
Since joining Bahir Dar University, he has been actively engaged in teaching, curriculum development, research, student mentorship, and academic leadership. He is passionate about education, leadership development, and community service, and believes that education is a powerful tool for solving societal problems.
Mr. Gebretsadik has recently successfully completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Leaderhaip Practice at the Nile Executive Leadership Academy. As a fellow of the Nile Executive Leadership Academy, he is committed to supporting emerging leaders through guidance, knowledge sharing, ethical leadership, and continuous professional development. He is dedicated to fostering excellence, integrity, and lifelong learning among future leaders.
