Bayu Teshome is a distinguished alumnus of the Nile Executive Leadership Academy (NELA) at Bahir Dar University and a Lecturer in Industrial Management at the Ethiopian Institute of Textile and Fashion Technology (EiTEX), Bahir Dar University.
With over nine years of experience spanning higher education instruction, academic research, and student governance, Bayu is recognized for his commitment to pioneering systemic changes within Ethiopia's industrial landscape. His core focus centre's on driving structural industrial transformation by engineering resilient, adaptive, and sustainable supply chain systems.
As a NELA Fellow, Bayu holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Leadership Practice. Merging his engineering background with advanced administrative frameworks, Bayu designed a standout capstone project entitled “Application of the Honeybee Leadership Model through a Systems Thinking Lens:The Case of the Ethiopian Textile Value Chain.” His work aims to introduce structural, cross-industry optimization across local manufacturing networks.
Additionally, Bayu has expanded his management competencies through targeted public and private entrepreneurship credentials, including specialized training workshops delivered in partnership with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI)-Ethiopia.
Academic & Research Contributions Bayu possesses an advanced technical foundation, holding an M.Sc. in Industrial Management with an outstanding CGPA of 3.90, alongside a B.Sc. in Textile Engineering from Bahir Dar University. His academic portfolio addresses crucial environmental, operational, and technological demands within the garment and manufacturing sectors. His primary lecture and research domains cover Quality Management and Control, Green Supply Chain Management, Ergonomics, and Innovation Management.

Prior to his faculty tenure, Bayu demonstrated exceptional governance capabilities as the Students Union President at Bahir Dar University, where he was honored with the prestigious Crystal Award and Certification for organizational excellence. He frequently spearheads large-scale institutional initiatives, serving as a primary conference organizer for the university's 60th Anniversary and central University-Industry Linkage forums.
His leadership credentials also extend internationally, highlighted by his participation in the Textile Leadership Resilience Program (ReSITex) hosted by the Swedish School of Textiles at the University of Borås
