Dr.Tegbar Yigzaw Sendekie, MD, MPH, PhD

Dr. Tegbar  is an Ethiopian public health physician, educator, and expert in human resources for health. He has held several high-profile positions, including President of the Ethiopian Medical Association and Chief of Party for USAID's Health Workforce Improvement Program at Jhpiego.

Career and accomplishments
Public health leadership: He has over two decades of experience in public health, including implementing donor-funded health systems strengthening projects.

Health workforce development: As a key expert in human resources for health, he has led Jhpiego's health workforce programs for more than a decade.

Medical education: He has been instrumental in reforming Ethiopia's health and medical education systems. His contributions include developing the national strategic plan for human resources for health, establishing national licensing examinations, and standardizing continuing professional development systems.

Professional service: He has served as President of the Ethiopian Medical Association, as a board member of the Ethiopian Public Health Association, and as a quality committee member for the WHO Academy.

Academic background: He holds a medical degree (MD) and a PhD in public health. He has also served as an assistant professor and head of the School of Public Health at the University of Gondar.
