In alignment with his roles in training, advising, coaching, mentoring, researching, and community service, he currently serves as the Deputy Executive Director of the Nile Executive Leadership Academy (NELA). His academic and professional journey reflects a deep commitment to leadership development, governance, and institutional transformation.
He earned his Ph.D. in Public Health from Bahir Dar University in 2021, a Master of Public Health in Health Service Management from the University of Gondar in 2014, and a B.Sc. in Public Health from Jimma University in 2010. Over the past decade, Dr. Yeshambel has served in several key academic and administrative positions, including Director of the Leadership Development Program (2022–2025), Administrative and Business Development Director (2016), and Community-Based Education Coordinator (2015) at BDU, as well as Head of the Alefa District Health Office in North Gondar Zone, Amhara Regional State (2011–2013). He has received advanced professional training in Leadership, Management, and Governance (LMG), Coaching and Mentorship, and Instructional Design and E-Learning Course Development, Online Course Delivery, reflecting his holistic approach to leadership cultivation and institutional learning.
Dr. Yeshambel’s research interests focus on leadership, management, and governance, particularly within health systems. His scholarly works examine leadership competence, system challenges, and enabling environments for institutional performance in Ethiopia and beyond. He has also authored five influential books—Abrhote Seb (አብርሆተ ሰብእ), Yelewt Meri (የለውጥ መሪ), Yelewt Hawarya (የለውጥ ሐዋርያ), Mehonne Flga (መሆንን ፍለጋ), and The Order (ሥነ ሥርዓት)—which explore themes of humanity, education, morals and ethics, leadership, civilization, and internationalization. He has secured both national and international research grants, including the Integrated Health System Leadership Grant (BDU, 2017–2021) and the HEART Initiative Grant (U.S.–Nepal–Ethiopia, 2017–2019). Through his scholarship and service, Dr. Yeshambel continues to promote the philosophy of advanced leadership practice as a foundation for effective governance, sustainable development, and human-centered systems in Africa and beyond.
