Graphite Exhibition: A Celebration of Vision, Skill, and Storytelling

Showcasing the Talent of Second-Year Fashion Design Students

The Department of Fashion Design proudly hosted the Graphite Exhibition, a stunning showcase of creativity, discipline, and artistic growth by our talented second-year students. This four-week intensive graphite drawing module culminated in a breathtaking display of original works that captivated both students and academic staff alike.

¨ About the Exhibition

Held in the heart of our design studios, the exhibition featured a curated collection of graphite renderings, each piece a testament to the students’ evolving mastery of form, texture, proportion, and narrative expression. From hyper-realistic portraits to imaginative fashion illustrations, the works reflected not only technical excellence but also deep personal and cultural storytelling.

¨ What Made It Special

· 4 Weeks of Immersive Practice: Students engaged in rigorous studio sessions, exploring graphite as a medium for fashion ideation, figure drawing, and conceptual design.

·  Creative Freedom: Each student was encouraged to develop a unique visual voice, resulting in a diverse and emotionally resonant body of work.

·  Peer and Faculty Engagement: The exhibition served as a vibrant platform for dialogue, critique, and celebration, fostering a sense of community and shared artistic purpose.

¨ Fashion Meets Fine Art

While rooted in fashion design, the exhibition transcended traditional boundaries. Many pieces explored themes of identity, heritage, sustainability, and the future of fashion, bridging the gap between technical drawing and conceptual exploration.

¨ A Moment of Pride

The Graphite Exhibition was more than a display it was a milestone. It marked the students’ transition from foundational learning to expressive design thinking. Faculty members praised the depth, maturity, and originality of the work, while fellow students left inspired and energized..
