Recent Event in EiTEX

The Ethiopian Institute of Textile and Fashion Technology (EiTEX), Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia, has signed a Framework of Agreement with Donghua University, China, to collaborate on Excellence in Engineering based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2023, on June 13, 2025. 

The two institutions have been working collaboratively on staff development, research, and technology development programs jointly for almost a decade. The team of six, which is led by Professor Lu Weibing, the Vice-President of Donghua University, has discussed with Dr. Mengesha Ayene, the president of Bahir Dar University, and the members on excelling their collaboration through continuous staff development, technology development and transfer, joint research and project works, talent cultivation programs, and joint events such as Sino-Africa and related platforms. 

Taking Donghua University’s reputation on deep-rooted and extended innovation and technology development and Bahir Dar University’s role in education and engineering excellence and its growing impact in East Africa into consideration, their collaboration is valued by both institutions significantly. Furthermore, the two institutions agreed to enhance their progress on research and technology to push the standard in those areas to the level that benefits the national and international stakeholders who are working on textiles, fashion design, apparel technology, and related areas in engineering, considering their achievements so far.
