            PROGRAM OBJECTIVES 


The four year (eight semesters) undergraduate program is designed to: 

  • Develop experts to create curricular materials and textbooks for primary and secondary education 
  • Train educators to assess and enhance teachers' professional development and classroom practices
  • Conduct educational research to support ongoing improvements and innovations in teaching 
  • Organize teacher training programs, both pre-service and in-service
  •  Improve quality education through research on national educational issues 
  • Establish a national center for teaching excellence based on research findings 
  • Equip students with technology skills and promote resource conservation 
  • Foster appreciation for Ethiopia's historical and cultural achievements 
  • Teach essential macroeconomic concepts relevant to Ethiopia 
  • Apply psychological principles to develop life skills and entrepreneurial confidence 
  • Provide foundational knowledge of International Relations theories for critical evaluation. 

        GRADUATE PROFILE 


A graduate who has completed undergraduate degree in curriculum studies and Teachers’ Professional Development will have acquired: 

  • Advanced specialist knowledge and general intellectual ability on advising and consulting on curriculum, instruction, and school improvement issues 
  • Understanding the relevance of theories of curriculum and knowledge of teachers ‘professional development for quality education
  •  Life skills that equip them for employment and citizenship and lay the foundation for life time of continuous learning and personal development 
  • Monitoring and evaluating of school practices and develop intervention strategies 
  • Developed textbooks and curricular materials for primary and secondary schools 
  • Appreciated the role of curriculum and teacher professionalism in improving access and quality education
  • Appreciation of the wider school context s in which they live and work.
