Hilton Foundation Africa Water Quality Testing fellowship Workshop took place at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology-Bahir Dar University
[June 23, 2022፣ Bahir Dar - ISC/BiT]
*****************************************************
The ceremony began with an opening speech by Dr. Bimrew Tamrat, Scientific Director of Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, who emphasized the value of such collaborative research in benefiting the communities, aside from the capacity building. According to Dr. Anna Murray, Senior Research Manager, the research project will take place in the woredas of Dera, Farta, and Semen Mecha. The investigation is launched with Aquaya, a research firm based in Nairobi, Kenya, which will be sponsored by Conrad N. Hilton Foundation.
Aquaya will evaluate drinking water quality and compare the findings to those of the other districts in its territory. This, on the other hand, will benefit postgraduate research students while Stanford University investigates the socioeconomic statistics of the woredas. According to Dr. Dagnachew Aklog, from Blue Nile Institute, population growth is endangering water quality, needing a one-of-a-kind remedy. Mr. Eshetu Assefa informed the chair of his desire to join in the study project once they reached an agreement on the problem. According to his presentation, the chair had participated in numerous projects and joint research with over seven organizations, including UNICEF and SNV. He also asserted that the experience is incredibly valuable and that the study project would be a success thanks to the assistance of several governmental, private parties and stakeholders. Later, the kickoff had continued through discussion with various stakeholders on the points raised which led by Dr. Dagnachew Aklog, Mr. Eshetu Assefa and Dr. Meseret Dessalegn from Aquaya.
The investigation will consider the site data, which will subsequently be collected in a system, as well as mobile app development, where the solution lies ahead. Data collection training will begin tomorrow.
