Ain Shams University (ASU)

The Adult Literacy Education Centre in Ain Shams University (ASU) is the first adult education centre in Egypt, established in 2001. The Center holds conferences and seminars and publishes a regular journal on adult education. Adult literacy facilitator training is also provided by the Center in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, preparing youth through organising pre-training courses. Recent projects have investigated life skills for literacy and the role of universities in developing adult literacy.

Dr. Islam Muhammad Al-Saeed Ibrahim, Dr. Ashour Ahmed Amry, Professor Moheb Kamel El Rafei, Professor Gihan Camal, Dr. Reda Muhammed AbdulSenar Attia, and Dr. Nahla Jamal Mohammed Saad are among the UNESCO Chair team members at ASU.
