Youth social action, employability and livelihoods: a workshop series (Malawi)

What? - The UEA UNESCO Chair in Adult Literacy and Learning for Social Transformation and the University of Malawi Centre for Social Research (UoM CSR) will co-host a two-part, impact-focused UNESCO Chair Day workshop to explore the potential of youth participation and intergenerational learning to create pathways towards youth employability. The workshops are expected to generate policy and practice-focused recommendations on how state and non-state actors can build on intergenerational learning to ensure dignified employment and livelihoods for young people. The aim of this workshop is for young people to discuss and share key challenges they face in seeking employment and participating in sustainable livelihoods. It will also be an opportunity to share best practice examples of local, youth-led responses to these issues.

When? - 9-10 January/2023
Where? - Zomba, Malawi
Who? - Young people, representatives from community-based youth groups, student councils, youth activists and other active youths in communities without organizational affiliation from Malawi will participate. Besides, country representatives of the UEA UNESCO Chair in Adult Literacy and Learning for Social Transformation will take part.
