Bahir Dar Endebete Project

Bahir Dar University is implementing the "Bahir Dar Endebete Project". In Ethiopia, as many students join universities located in other regions of the country, they forced to leave home and their family. During this time, especially if it is for the first time to leave out, they could feel something disturbed and fear. As a result students may fail to adjust their new feelings to the environment and get homesickness. This feeling of homesickness at last may affect their educational performance as well as social interaction with friends, classmates, and roommates. In addition to this, the students may also face another problem of violence and isolation. So, to prevent such failure, students need to get support in every aspect from the university as well as the nearby/surrounding community. One strategy to find support from the community could be finding a student-hosting family from Bahir Dar town residents who have interest to take the student as member of the family and capability to support during their university stay period. In doing so, this project aspires: 1. To build host family - student relationship 2. To minimize students challenge related to socio-cultural issues in their stay at the university 3.To build the image of the University and the local community
