History

Introduction

In History, the undergraduate program is in regular, extension, distance and summer. The objective, courses, and graduation requirements are more or les the same. There are slight differences in the admission requirement and course breaks downs.

 

Admission Requirement

For any program (regular, extension summer and distance), it depends on the requirements set by the ministry of education for higher education enrolment. But there may be variations in some cases.

Objective

The Department of History has its general objectives aimed at training competent and responsible citizens who are well versed in the historical knowledge. To this effect it disposes its duty to the fostering of transparent, democratic and cost effective behavior practices at the Department level.

The general objectives of the Department are mentioned as follow:

  • produce professionals who can confidently promote problem solving skills by applying their knowledge;
  • prepare citizens who will practice democratic principles
  • instill the feeling of pride, confidence and conviction that will enable the upcoming graduates to become role models to the community, committed to change and continuous improvement;
  • prepare trainees who can choose, produce and make use of appropriate technologies to enrich historical knowledge and experience.
  • attract interested and potentially able students to the learning force, taking affirmative action to support female students starting from recruitment stage notably to partly based on their teaching careers;

Graduation requirements

Students who have taken all the required courses successfully, i.e. minimum of 180 ECTS and maximum of 190 ECT with a cumulative grade point average (CPGA 2.00) and with no “F” grade in any of the courses will be eligible for graduation.
