A workshop on Democracy, Federalism and Peace held

Faculty of Social Science, Bahir Dar University, in collaboration with a political institution named Fredrieck Ebert Stuftung held a workshop on democracy, federalism and peace.
Head of Political Science and International Relations, Mr Gebretsadik Awgechew, in his welcoming speech noted that the aim of the workshop was to demonstrate policy direction on democracy, federalism and peace. He added workshops of such a kind were not destined to be prepared at a university level. He further suggested other similar universities to take the initiative to bring such subjects to academic forums.
Dr. Mulunesh Abebe, Vice president for Research and Community Services, Bahir Dar University, in her opening speech underscored the importance of such workshops. She said the three issues: democracy, federalism and peace, are interrelated and decisive for nation building. The vice president added such workshops are important and this is why politicians, scholars, activists and others are repeatedly heard voicing about thus issues. 
In the workshop, nine papers that have connection with democracy, federalism and peace were presented by researchers from Bahir Dar University, Gondar University, Addis Ababa University and Texas University. After the presentations, questions and comments from the audience were entertained by the respective presenters.
