STEM (BDU) outreach program

Bahir Dar University STEM center graduates students who have been attending hands- on training in the summer outreach program. The students who were selected from government and private schools from Bahir Dar on merit basis have been receiving hands-on training for 45 days.

While introducing the day’s program Dr. Alemu Tesfaye vice Director of the center said that the center provides other similar programs/trainings like Science Shared Camp, Summer Camp, Girls’ Camp, Project Work, Weekends, Lab Works. Dr. Alemu noted that although the center encourages students from government schools to receive the trainings, due mainly to transportation problem, many couldn’t, so the regional education bureau shall plan to cover the students’ transport fee for a more pronounced impact of the training offered by the center.

Dr. Tesfaye Shiferaw, V/President for Research and Community Services of Bahir Dar University in the certificate handover ceremony for the trainees recalled that the center has so far contributed in training more than 3,090 students since 2012. Dr. Tesfaye added students who have taken the training shall share their training experience to their fellow students when they are back to their schools.
