PhD in Statistics Viva Voce

The second round doctoral dissertation viva voce held

Two PhD candidates from Statistics Department, BDU have successfully defended their doctoral   dissertations on December 29, 2022. This defense session was the second round as the first was held in January 2022.  Both works have been evaluated by professors from universities abroad and within.

The first doctoral viva voce was by Teshager Zerihun who did his study titled “Spatio-temporal Modeling and Prediction of Malaria Transmission in Amhara Region, Ethiopia” under the supervision of Dr. Essey Kebede and Prof. Temesgen Zewotir. The examiners were Prof. Legesse Kassa Deboshu and Dr. Girma Taye from University of South Africa and Addis Ababa University respectively.

The second PhD candidate Seyifemichael Amare has defended his dissertation titled “Small Area Estimations of Under Five Children Undernutrition in Ethiopian Zones.” Seyifemichael has done his study under the supervision of Dr. Essey Kebede, Dr. Yegnanew Alem Shiferaw and Prof. Temsgen Zewotir. The examining board of the second session was Prof. Sileshi Fenta Melesse from University of KwaZulu Natal and Dr. Asrat Atsedeweyn from University of Gonder.
