Bahir Dar University management members meet with current and former Ambassadors of Sweden to Ethiopia.

Dr. Firew Tegegne, president of Bahir Dar University received the two high level guests at the conference hall of the Wisdom building on Tuesday, 31 January 2023.
After a brief overview presentation of the historical make up, structure and constituents of Bahir Dar University, Dr. Firew expressed his delight in having Ambassador Jan Sadekthe, current ambassador of Sweden to Ethiopia and Mr. Torbjörn Pettersson, former Ambassador of Sweden to Ethiopia. He also recognized the contribution of Mr. Petterson in the historic relationship between Bahir Dar University and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), which has greatly empowered the now Institute of Land Administration During his tenure as Director of SIDA.
In overviewing the relationship between Sweden and Ethiopia, Dr. Firew related BDU’s active engagement in international affairs by mentioning Tana Forum as an example and added that Sweden’s commitment to international peace as well as environmental initiatives aligns very well with BDU’s engagements. The six years old relationship of the Humanities Faculty at BDU and the Swedish Liennus University has opened up staff and student exchange opportunities which leave its mark on the internationalization efforts of BDU.
