The koga irrigation project is harvesting crops using technology

Bahir Dar University Agriculture Campus is collecting corn on the 10 hectares of land in Mecha district the Koga irrigation which is used as a research and technology transfer scheme using modern machines.

Mr Desale Kidanie, irrigation expert and teacher in the Department of Natural Resources said that as the Koga Irrigation project is a place where research and technology transfer tasks are conducted, soil and water conservation works are undertaken and because of this the revenue of the university is expected to rise. More than 2000 quintals of corn is expected to be collected in the current year. This is believed to increase the revenue of the university. What makes the current year’s endeavour special is apart from using hatching machines that hatch the corn fast, its role in expanding the experience through technology transfer is eminent.

 

Ato Desale added that apart from being a source of income , the research and productivity raising task the Koga Irrigation Project is working on in its 10 hectare plot of land it takes to produce crops, technology aided experience sharing was conducted in an effort to collect the crop produced.
