Bahir Dar University and Ministry of Water Resources and Energy

Bahir Dar University and Ministry of Water Resources and Energy agreed to work in collaboration.

Bahir Dar University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Water and Energy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

The agreement was signed by the President of Bahir Dar University, Dr. Frew, and the State Minister for the Energy sector of the Ministry of Water and Energy, Dr. Sultan Wali in the President's Office meeting hall.

The president of Bahir Dar University, Dr. Frew Tegegne said that Bahir Dar University has been selected to be a research university although there is no any research university in the current context.

He said that the university is contributing to the development of the country by opening international programs that do not exist at the national level and by training students to produce professionals with strong work ethic and ethics.

He mentioned that during the war and Covid-19, the university has done a lot of work to benefit the society. The president added in the process of working together with foreign and domestic institutions, Bahir Dar University has done remarkable jobs that can be good models for other institutions.

Mr. Temesgen Getnet, Information and Strategic Communication Director of the Bahir Dar University Institute of Technology, gave a summary of the activities and future plans of the university and the institute of technology.

During the agreement, two research papers related to the agreement were presented and discussed in the presence of senior executives and invited guests who attended the program.. The first was by Dr. Demis Almaw, Academic Deputy Scientific Director of Bahir Dar University Institute of Technology on the title "The role of Bahir Dar University in the advancement of Water and Energy management research" and the other by Dr. Michael Mehari, senior advisor to the Ministry Dr. Michael presented about "Priorities and Flagship Programmers in the Ethiopian Water and Energy Sectors"

Mentioning that Bahir Dar University is a home for highly qualified experts where different international researches in the field are conducted, Dr Sultan on his part, said that the Ministry of Water Resources and Energy just agreed to engage in researche supported and community benefiting activities in Water Resources and Energy sectors. In addition, the Minister of State, Dr. Sultan said that the agreement will help to strengthen the working cooperation between the university and the Ministry in a coordinated manner and move it to a better stage.
