The School of Veterinary Medicine at Bahir Dar University (SVM-BDU) has celebrated a major academic milestone with the successful completion of thesis defenses for a cohort of its MSc and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students. The event, held in early July 2025 and evaluated by a distinguished panel of external examiners from leading national institutions, marks a significant achievement for the graduates and reinforces SVM-BDU’s commitment to excellence in veterinary education and research.

SVM-BDU is set to host a landmark seminar on Friday, June 20, 2025, focusing on the transformation of veterinary education. Featuring Prof. Asaminew Tasew, the session will champion curriculum reforms that prioritize hands-on skills and entrepreneurial competence to better prepare graduates for industry demands.

In a recent SVM Friday Seminar, Dr. Andnet Yirga Assefa, Head of the Department of Veterinary Epidemiology and Public Health, presented his innovative research on harnessing public genomic repositories to track the global spread of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).

In a continued commitment to veterinary education, the School of Veterinary Medicine at Bahir Dar University (SVM-BDU) and Brooke Ethiopia conducted Compassionate Animal Handling (CAH) training from May 30 to June 1, 2025.
