Bahir Dar University’s (BDU) School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM), represented by Dr. Yeshwas Ferede, actively participated in the National Workshop on Veterinary Education National Action Plan (VEd NAP) held on May 9, 2025, in Addis Ababa. The workshop, organized by The Ohio State University and the University of Gondar, focused on enhancing Ethiopia’s veterinary education through curriculum harmonization, practical training improvements, and strategic partnerships.

In this week’s Friday seminar, Dr. Hailu Mazengia delivered an insightful presentation on “Veterinary Cold Chain Management: Ensuring Effective Vaccines”, addressing the critical systems needed to safeguard vaccine efficacy. His lecture emphasized three fundamental pillars: the importance of skilled personnel in proper vaccine handling, the necessity of reliable cold storage equipment, and the implementation of rigorous standard operating procedures while emphasizing real-world strategies to monitor, mitigate risks, and maintain vaccine integrity from storage to delivery. The seminar concluded with actionable insights to strengthen veterinary cold chain systems.
