Vision, Mission and Objectives 

 

  1. Vision

    To be among a leading academic department of epidemiology and veterinary public health in Ethiopia, contributing to understand patterns, causes and control strategy of diseases, One Health, food safety, and zoonotic disease control through quality education, research, and community engagement.

  4. Provide quality education and training in epidemiology and veterinary public health, producing competent professionals equipped with knowledge and skills to address public and animal health challenges. Conduct innovative research on zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) foodborne pathogens, and emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases. Contribute to policy development and evidence-based interventions for disease prevention and control. Promote One Health approaches by fostering collaboration between veterinarians, medical professionals, environmental scientists, and policymakers. Engage in community outreach and capacity-building programs to improve disease surveillance, food safety, and public health awareness.

 

   Objectives

 

  1. 1. To develop and implement additional postgraduate programs in epidemiology and veterinary public health.
  2. 2. Provide specialized training and workshops on disease surveillance, risk assessment, and food safety management.
  3. 3. To Conduct interdisciplinary and high-impact research on zoonotic diseases, AMR, and foodborne pathogens and promote community-based interventions to improve human and animal health.
  4. 4. To strengthen epidemiological data collection and analysis for improved disease prevention and control strategies.
  5. 5. To provide extension services and public awareness programs on foodborne zoonoses and antimicrobial resistance.
