Bahir Dar, Ethiopia; August 26, 2026— Nile Executive Leadership Academy (NELA) at Bahir Dar University hosted a specialized training on coaching and mentoring for its Fellows drawn from Cohort One to Cohort Four, as well as members of the wider NELA community.
The training, held virtually, brought together participants from across the different cohorts to strengthen their capacity in coaching and mentoring practices—skills considered essential for effective leadership development.
The session was facilitated by Dr. Solomon Worku, a distinguished expert in the field and Special Advisor to the Minister at the Federal Ministry of Health, Ethiopia. Drawing on his extensive experience, Dr. Worku guided participants through the foundations, principles, and practical processes of both coaching and mentoring, and opened the session by inviting Fellows to share their own expectations for the training.
The training closed with a reflection session, leaving participants with a guiding thought every leader should know how and when to apply.
Through the training, participants were equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes to effectively coach and mentor others—competencies expected to enhance their leadership impact within their respective institutions and the broader NELA network.
The training forms part of NELA's ongoing commitment to building a strong pipeline of capable, values-driven leaders across its Fellow cohorts, reinforcing the Academy's mission of fostering excellence in executive leadership development.
