Bahir Dar University (BDU) successfully concluded two days of intensive, interactive executive leadership training sessions for its campus-level managing directors and central administrative directors from February 27-28, 2026.
Organized by the Office of the Administrative and Business Development Vice President in collaboration with the Central Human Resource Directorate, the program was designed to sharpen the leadership acumen of BDU’s core administrative team.

The training, designed and facilitated by the NELA faculties, focused on navigating the evolving university ecosystem. The sessions provided strategic insights and practical tools on tackling administrative challenges while ensuring full alignment with BDU’s mission and vision.
✍️Key Focus Areas
The compressed 2-day curriculum balanced theory with high-impact practical sessions, covering:
✅ Virtue-Based and Strength-Based Leadership (the core philosophy of NELA): Leading with integrity and leveraging individual talents.
✅ Peak Performing Teams: Strategies for specialized and context-specific team administration and building high-output units.
✅Emotional Intelligence (EQ): Mastering self-awareness and interpersonal dynamics.
✅Organizational Culture, Subculture and Flow: Fostering flow, ownership and a culture of excellence.
✅ Motivation and Accountability: Identifying drives (intrinsic and extrinsic) and their sources and overcoming the "antithesis of accountability."
By investing in its leadership today, BDU is ensuring a more resilient, motivated, and mission-driven administration for today and tomorrow. The capacity-building short-term training will continue on key leadership areas (need-based and customized).
My big appreciation to the trainees for their active participation, engaging experiences and their strong appetite for more such a practical training sessions.
