Dr. Nebiyu Shitaye is an assistant professor of surgery and a dedicated consultant general and pediatric surgeon based in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia.

A graduate of Jimma University, Dr. Nebiyu completed his specialty training in general surgery at Addis Ababa University, followed by a subspecialty in pediatric surgery at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health in Bangalore, India.

As both a practicing surgeon and academic, Dr. Nebiyu is deeply committed to patient care, medical education, and advancing surgical science. His exemplary clinical service earned him recognition as the Best Clinician of the Year at Tibebe Ghion Specialized Hospital. His research, published in reputable journals such as BMC Surgery and the Ethiopian Medical Journal, focuses on improving outcomes in neonatal surgery, major abdominal wall defects, and pediatric mortality.

Beyond the operating room and classroom, Dr. Nebiyu is a capable institutional leader who has held key administrative positions, including Director of Outpatient Services at Tibebe Ghion Specialized Hospital and Director of Quality Assurance and Institutional Transformation at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Bahir Dar University. He also plays an active role on several committees dedicated to academic quality, staff development, and healthcare innovation.

An engaged member of the global medical community, Dr. Nebiyu has participated in international training and conferences in Germany, India, Spain, and Rwanda. He also serves as a peer reviewer for multiple international medical journals, underscoring his commitment to scientific excellence and knowledge dissemination.
