Brief Biography

Tefera Degu Addis is a lecturer (currently on study leave) at Bahir Dar University School of Law. He obtained his Bachelor degree in Laws from Bahir Dar University in 2012 (first class with distinction) and also holds LL.M in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law from the University of Essex in the UK in 2015 (with Merit). He has also a postgraduate certificate in sustaniable development and human rights law from the University of Antwerp, Faculty of Law. 

Before joining Bahir Dar University, Tefera worked as a full-time Lecturer at the Law School of Arba Minch University where he taught various public law courses at undergraduate level. He has also previously worked as a junior human rights researcher at Ethiopian Human Rights Commission in Addis Ababa, and as an intern at United Nations High Commisioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva.   

Tefera is currently a doctoral researcher at the University of Antwerp, Faculty of Law  in Belgium.

His research interest includes law and development, indigenous peoples, freedom of expresssion, media law, online rights and the law of armed conflict.
