Brief Biography

Mr. Gizachew Silesh graduated from Addis Ababa University with Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) in 2006. He earned his Master’s degree (LL.M) in Business Law in 2010 from Addis Ababa University once again. He also got LL.M in Maritime Law in May 2017 from Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law, University of Oslo.

Mr. Gizachew is a long time serving lecturer and researcher at Bahir Dar University. It was in September 2006, soon after his LL.B graduation, that he joined the then Department of Law as Assistant Graduate II. He taughtvarious courses including the law of business organizations, investment law, international trade law, and tax law in the undergraduate programme; and he has been advising and delivering courses to postgraduate students after his promotion to the rank of assistant professor in 2015. He has also conducted research on various legal issues and participated in community service provision including rendering legal aid services.

Mr. Gizachew served in different administrative posts including as Director of Bahir Dar University Legal aid Centre and LL.M programme coordinator. Currently, he is the Editor-in-Chief of Bahir Dar University Journal of Law, and he is also Legal Director of Bahir Dar Institute of Technology and Ethiopian Institute of Textile and Fashion Technology.
