Five Scholars at Bahir Dar University Achieve Associate Professor Rank 
BDU, (January 27, 2025) – Bahir Dar University celebrates the academic excellence of five distinguished faculty members with their recent promotion to the esteemed rank of Associate Professor. This achievement recognizes their exceptional contributions to teaching, research, and service. 
The rigorous promotion process, guided by the university's Faculty Development Guidelines, evaluated candidates across multiple dimensions, including teaching excellence, research productivity, and service to the university and community. Each of the promoted scholars exceeded the required 80% threshold, achieving impressive scores. 
1. Dr. Gorawu Goshu (College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences), specializing in Ecohydrology & Water Quality, demonstrated a strong commitment to research and teaching excellence, achieving a score of 96.01%. 
2. Dr. Zerihun Nigusse (College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences), specializing in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, was recognized for his outstanding contributions, achieving a score of 98.64%. 
3. Dr. Mezgebu Ashagre (College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences), also specializing in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, received a score of 96.73% for his significant contributions to the field. 
4. Dr. Yayeh Bitew (College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences), specializing in Agronomy, achieved a score of 97.79%, reflecting his dedication to research and teaching. 
5. Dr. Getachew Tizazu (College of Science), specializing in Condensed Matter Physics, achieved a score of 96.35% for his exceptional contributions to the university.
