Seed Money Award Ceremony at Bahir Dar University

The joint project with Indiana University, IVY technical college, and Debremarkos University which entitled PIBELT- partnership in business, entrepreneurship, and leadership transformation gave seed money awards for 10 selected acceleration training participants (five from each university). After consecutive pre-acceleration and acceleration training, participants passed the criteria that made them eligible for the seed money award.

The awarding ceremony was held in respecting WHO COVID-19 Protocols both in virtual and face-to-face. The award will help them to refine their business model, design business model, and prototypes, and utilize as fulfilling some financial needs for the startup companies.

The project delivered leadership and entrepreneurship training for university administrators and innovator youths from university students and community youth. The entrepreneurship training covered eight modules in pre-accelerating and four modules in acceleration programs.

Partnership in Business Entrepreneurship and Leadership Transformation (PiBELT) is a collaborative project between Bahir Dar, Indiana, Debre Markos Universities and Ivy Tech Community College aiming to establish a stronger Entrepreneurship Ecosystem at the Bahir Dar – Debre Markos corridor, improve the administration and leadership of BDU and DMU, and design and maintaining a follow up of a network and support system. It is funded by the US Embassy in Ethiopia under the University Partnership Initiative (UPI) program.

Bahir Dar and Debre Markos Universities have organized this Experience Sharing and Dissemination workshop to share lessons learned and capacity development materials developed through the PiBELT project with universities in Ethiopia and other stakeholders.

Therefore, the purposes of the Experience Sharing and Dissemination workshop aim;
• To showcase the contribution of the project to young entrepreneurs and job creation.
• To share experiences and lessons of the PiBELT project with other Ethiopian Universities and stakeholders for scaling-up and scaling-out results of the PiBELT project.
• To create connections and relationships with Ethiopian Universities and other stakeholders in Ethiopia.
