(Bahir Dar, Ethiopia, July 25, 2025) - From July 16–23, 2025, the School of Veterinary Medicine at Bahir Dar University (SVM-BDU), in partnership with BROOKE Ethiopia, successfully delivered an Equine Foundation Training for public sector veterinarians from Bahir Dar City and Bahir Dar Zuria District.

The training combined theoretical knowledge with intensive hands-on sessions at the Clinical Skills Laboratory and Animal Health and Welfare Center. Key topics included compassionate animal handling, veterinary health mentoring, essential medicines, vaccine cold chain management, and practical clinical skills.

This initiative strengthens local veterinary capacity and emphasizes a joint commitment to sustainable equine welfare, directly benefiting communities that depend on these animals for their livelihoods.
