Brief Biography

Mr. Bereket Eshetu is a Senior Lecturer of School of Law at Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia. He received his Bachelors’ degree in Law from Wollo University, Ethiopia on July 02, 2015. Following his graduation from Wollo University, he joined the Mettu University, Ethiopia and served as an Assistant Lecturer for a year. In October 2017, he joined Bahir Dar University, School of Law to follow his Masters’ Degree, with thespecialization in ‘Human Rights and Criminal Justice System’. After his graduation on October 18, 2018, he was employed at Bahir Dar University, School of Law as a lecturer.

Bereket has about 4 years of professional experiences in Ethiopian public universities.  Bereket devotes much time working at in his office. He served universities with great work commitment and motivation. He has the habit of strong work commitment, developing teamwork and academic excellence.Developing a research skill is his primary goal in his academic career. He was known in his capacity to focus on challenges, respond as such. He is also known to compromise and solve differences in ways that build trust and confidence.

In the above all Universities, Bereket has engaged himself in conducting various research works, and rendered community services and presented seminar works. Apart from delivering class and advising research students,  Bereket was currently serving in the different positions of Bahir Dar University namely, School of Law Coordinator for Distance and Continuing Education and Team Coach for Moot Court Competition Participating Teams. Besides, he is regularly working to achieve the goals and objectives of the School by actively engaging in different activities such as, in Committee Works, Research and Community Services, including free legal aid service to vulnerable sects of the society, Grand Projects, Publications of Scholarly Works and Student Guidance and Counseling Activities).


Now days, he is living in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia.

Research Interest: 

Berekets’ research interest includes, but not limited to, Public international law, the African human rights system, freedom of expression, online rights, the law of armed conflict, development and human rights.
