Bahir Dar University Directorate of Support and Services for the Disabilities, in collaboration with the Executive Committee of Women and Social Affairs and the Finnish Student Union has celebrated the 34th International Day of Persons with Disabilities and 33rd times in our country.

Dr. Zelalem said "Disability is difficult for one person, but it is easy for everyone" said Dr. Zellem, he realized that the day is celebrated to help the society understand the problems of students, staff and teachers with disabilities and discuss ways to remove obstacles. The focus is on the youth and students this year, they have stated that these youth are going to create a good environment for the disabled when they take responsibility tomorrow.

Dean Waltengus Mekonnen (PhD) of the Faculty of Humanities, has presented a comprehensive article that focuses on the incorrect languages and phrases that the society uses about people with disabilities. These proverbs have made us realize that disabled people should be corrected and replaced in a way that respects human dignity.

Birhane Asrat (PhD) (from Sports Academy) and Hirut Admasu (PhD)(from Humanities Faculty) who are exemplary in supporting and creating awareness for the disabled have been given certificates of recognition. Also a prize giving ceremony was held for six disabled students who scored high marks.
