Empowering IDRMFSS graduate students of 2026 on Fire Risk Management and safety practical training
The Institute of Disaster Risk Management and Food Security Studies is proud to announce the successful completion of a high-impact, five-day certified training for Graduating class of Disaster Risk Management and Sustainable Development (DRMSD) student, held from June 16 - 20, 2026, at the Institute’s Smart Classroom and field level training place, at Zenzelema Campus, Bahir Dar University.
Titled "Basic Fire Risk Management and safety” the training was designed to bridge theory and practice—equipping students with the applied skills needed to lead in fire risk reduction and safety. The sessions brought classroom concepts to life through interactive, exercise-based learning that mirrored real-world Fire Risk Management scenarios and Safety issues.
A total of 40 students—12 girls and 28 boys took part with remarkable enthusiasm and commitment. Feedback from participants highlighted the training as transformative training on practical demonstration of Fire risk management and safety. Students unanimously recommended that the training be sustained for future cohorts to ensure continued excellence and readiness.
The training was delivered by a team of distinguished institute experts, each possessing extensive field experience and specialized qualifications, including Training of Trainers (ToT) certification on Fire Risk Management and safety. Their expertise brought depth and credibility to every session, inspiring students to embrace excellence in service of community and country.
