A workshop on the GERD will be organized on Friday, 18 June 2021.
A GERD workshop with a theme of "The GERD: Ethiopia's Blessing for Sustainable Regional Cooperation" will be held at Bahir Dar University on Friday, 18 June 2021.
Presentations will be given on the following six topics by renowned researchers:
- Historical relations between the Nile co-Riparian states (Ethiopia, Sudan & Egypt); Past, Present, by Dr. Tigab Bezie, Bahir Dar University
- Global experiences and Ethiopian policies on trans-boundary rivers management and the challenges in the Abbay/Nile river, by Mr. Fekahmed Negash, Eastern Nile Technical Regional Office (ENTRO) Former Executive Director
- Trajectories of the GERD negotiation, and the challenges and prospects of the 2nd stage filling of the GERD and its aspired energy generation, by Prof. Yacob Arsano, Addis Ababa University
- Technical facts of the GERD and its impact on downstream countries, by Dr. Asegdew Gashaw, Bahir Dar University
- Revisiting hydro-hegemony on the Nile; the GERD and its implication on the hydro-hegemony, by Dr. Wuhibegzer Ferede, Bahir Dar University
- Economic significance of the GERD to the Eastern Nile riparian states (Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt), by Dr. Tewodros Negash, Addis Ababa University
